Aurangabad (Maharashtra): The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) raised a question against Supreme Court move in a matter of Triple- Talaq and made it clear that Supreme Court did not have a right to “make” a law. The member of (AIMPLB) Maulana Ata Ur Rehman Rashdi said in his statement to the reporters that Supreme Court was responsible to make a decision within the purview of law and not to ‘make’ the law. The interference of Supreme Court and Indian Government in Shariat laws is wrong and this is considered a violation of basic rights of Muslims which can’t be accepted at all.
However, The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017 has been passed in Lok Sabha earlier as most of the political parties in opposition including Congress voted in favor of Bill. If this bill implements in the law then any Muslim man giving divorce to his wife in any form like spoken, written or by means of email, SMS, WhatsApp will be considered as a serious criminal offense in Indian law and an imprisonment of 3-years.
