UIDAI introduces Baal Aadhaar card for children below 5 years of age

A child below 5 years old and even newborn babies will get a blue coloured Baal Aadhar card, with no biometrics(like fingerprint and iris scan) as they are not developed in a child of below 5 years whereas an update is mandatory when the child turns 5 and again when the child turns 15. The process of updating will be same as earlier i.e it will require a biometrics of 10 fingers, iris and the facial photograph.  Interestingly, the school ID card( from a recognised educational institution)can be used for his/her Aadhar enrollment.

UIDAI is spreading this new launch using the hashtag #AadhaarForMyChild.

For enrolling the Baal Aadhar, the birth certificate of the child along with the Aadhar card number of any one of the parent is compulsory-said UIDAI in a tweet.

UIDAI also said in another tweet that-However, it is not necessary for child below 5 years old to have Aadhar but this is needed to go for any educational programmes abroad and also to avail any government scholarship as well.
