A rainy day, some hot coffee, a cozy chair and an amazing classic in hand…*sigh! What else can a bookworm want to do on a grey rainy day? Honestly? Nothing else. This is the perfect description of heaven for us bookworms. What better than getting lost in the historical era of balls and strolls in gardens and strong witty protagonists entertaining you and despite the grey outside. Just describing this is making me want to drop everything aside and curl up with one of my favourite classics with a warm cup of sweetened coffee in my hand!!

But, work first! So here I am, back with a list of my 06 favourite classics that I would love to read on a rainy day. Hope you do too! Also, as a major austen fan, do not be surprised to see a few austen novels in this list.

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

classic pride and prejudice

Starting with my favourite, this classic is basically about the lives of families in the georgian era. The characters are funny and hold a great sense of appeal to the readers. The way the story flows through is easy to grasp without putting in a lot of concentration on your part.

2. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

classic little women

This classic is about the lives of four sisters and how they deal with life and growing up. This is a tearjerker, especially at the end. Keep some tissues handy!

3. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

classic jane eyre

This classic is about the life of an orphan girl, Jane Eyre, as she grows up and learns to lead an independent life and traverse through the paths of love.

4. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

classic the great gatsby

This classic is a somewhat complicated story of a group of people living in the jazz age and how every pretense affects their lives.

5. Lorna Doone by R. D. Blackmore

classic lorna doone

This classic novel revolves around the romance of John Ridd and Lorna Doone and the rivalries between their clans.

6. Emma by Jane Austen

classic emma

A highly entertaining classic with bits and pieces that will make you laugh out loud with a spirited and charming female protagonist and a calm male protagonist.
